I’m Sarah Brown, a creative based in London. I work under the name Domestica, partly because it sounds better than my actual name, which is extremely common, impossible to buy as a URL and entirely ungoogleable!

I’ve been designing, illustrating and making things professionally for over 25 years, across brand identity, creative direction, illustration and community creative programmes. I think carefully about why something needs to exist before I think about what it looks like. The best briefs I’ve worked on started with a real problem and ended with something that actually reached people.

For the last few years I’ve been working in community health and wellbeing in Tower Hamlets, developing campaigns and programmes for audiences that don’t typically engage with health services. It’s taught me a lot about what actually connects with people versus what just looks good on a slide deck.

Away from screens I’m a potter, a gamer and a lifelong maker. I’ve always preferred doing things over watching things, which probably explains a lot about how I approach work too.

I’m open to the right freelance projects and the right roles. If you’re working on something with a bit of ambition behind it and you think we might be a good fit, get in touch.
